1. Overview

Digital CD Changer (“the App”) is a native iOS application developed by Mitchell Smith. It lets you organize albums from your music library for playback on iPhone and CarPlay. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the App and how it is handled.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. No developer accounts or backend

The App does not require you to create an account with us. We do not operate our own servers to collect, store, or process your personal information or your music library for the App’s core features.

3. Music library access

The App uses Apple’s MusicKit and related system APIs to access the music library on your device—the same library you see in Apple Music and your purchased or synced content, as permitted by Apple and your subscription or purchase rights.

When you grant permission, the App can read library information needed to show albums, let you build “CD magazines,” and start playback. We do not upload your library listing, listening history from Apple, or full music files to developer-run systems.

4. Data stored on your device

The App uses SwiftData to store app-created data locally on your iPhone, such as:

  • Your CD magazine layouts and names
  • Preferences (for example, sort order and haptic settings)
  • Per-album metadata you generate in the App (for example, favorites, play counts, last played)
  • Recently played album references used inside the App

This data stays on your device unless you enable iCloud sync (see below) or remove the App.

5. iCloud sync (optional)

If you use a version of the App that syncs SwiftData through iCloud, that sync is handled by Apple’s infrastructure under your Apple ID—not by servers we operate. We do not receive a copy of your synced database for support purposes unless you choose to share information with us separately (for example, by email).

You can manage iCloud and related settings in the Settings app on your device and in your Apple ID account.

6. CarPlay, widgets, and Live Activities

The App integrates with Apple features including CarPlay, widgets (WidgetKit), and Live Activities (ActivityKit) where supported. These features display playback and App-related state using Apple’s system components. They are designed to work within Apple’s platform and are not used to sell data or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Where the App uses an App Group shared container (for example, to show now-playing artwork in a widget), that shared data remains on your devices under Apple’s sandboxing.

7. Purchases

The App is offered as a one-time paid download (or family-shared purchase, if applicable) through the Apple App Store. Apple processes payment; we do not receive your full payment card details. Apple may share limited purchase-related information with developers as described in Apple’s policies.

The App does not offer in-app purchases.

8. Third-party SDKs and tracking

The App is built with Apple’s native frameworks (including SwiftUI, SwiftData, MusicKit, and CarPlay APIs) and does not embed third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or social trackers.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the App to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.

9. Apple diagnostics and App Store data

Apple may collect diagnostics, crash reports, performance metrics, and usage analytics through the operating system and App Store, subject to your device and Apple ID settings (for example, Share Analytics and App Analytics in developer tools). That processing is governed by Apple’s privacy documentation, not by servers we operate.

For Apple’s privacy practices, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

10. Data retention

App data stored in SwiftData on your device remains until you delete the App or clear its data. If you use iCloud sync, retention schedules follow Apple’s CloudKit / iCloud sync rules under your account.

If you contact us by email, we may retain those messages as needed to respond and for ordinary business records.

11. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for our own marketing or profiling through the App. If you believe a child has provided us personal information outside of Apple’s systems, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. International users

If you use the App outside your home country, your information may be processed on your device and, if you use iCloud, by Apple in accordance with Apple’s terms and policies.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
